I have no idea why it took me so long to finally dive into this book. I've had it on my TBR for so long and was recently gifted an audio copy, and I was completely immersed into the story.

I made the decision to not read what the book was about, I completely forgot at this point and just opted to go in blind. Right from the beginning, you're quickly thrown into the story and your heart will be racing. Skye is abducted and quickly whisked away from the world she knows. And now she instantly goes into survival mode and becomes a fighter to find her way back home. But as days go on, there's something gnawing at the back of her head about her captor. Heck, it threw me off because he wasn't quite what I expected.

It's been so long since I've had all different emotions battling one another at the same time. I wanted Skye to be free and back home, but her captor had me curious about this mystery that surrounded him. And his why for doing what he does especially when it comes to Skye. It's something growing, not quite for the good or the bad. Just something that I needed to be answered.

As I was devouring, truths were coming out and I made a big guess, only to find out it was true. And from then on, I couldn't put this book down. I had to learn all the truths and hope for a HEA despite all the barriers that would be lingering between them.

I can't recommend this book enough, I love it wholeheartedly and wish I could read it again for the first time. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the flashbacks because I'm very picky about them. But Leylah wrote them really well and definitely served a purpose.

The Paper Swan easily makes the top of my favorite reads for the year!

NARRATION: Of course, I loved the narration! Shirl Rae and Zachary Webber did a phenomenal job carrying this story from beginning to end. This was my first listen by Shirl Rae, but was familiar with some of the books narrated by Zachary. They were both solid choices for Sky and Damian's story.

Thank you to Valentine PR for the gifted audio copy!
