Fascinating look at how slave labor served as a base for early economic development within the US. Based on interviews from slaves with interjections of politics of the time, this is the type of history that should be required reading for understanding history of the antebellum period and isn't taught in schools! Extremely helpful in understanding the African American slave experience!
