The Iliad by Homer

5.0

Not what I expected when I first began. Despite the fact I had already read The Aeneid and The Odyssey, I did not think that this book was about one singular man (Achilles). I expected this book instead to be about the Trojan war as a whole. Instead the Trojan war is a backdrop of the conflict between Achilles and Agamemnon. This book also is impartial of the description of the war, it doesn't favour the Greeks or the Trojans but instead portrays the war in a more balanced way. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and I would also recommend it to be followed up with The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller and The Silence of The Girls by Pat Barker.
