Born in Blood and Fire: A Concise History of Latin America by John Charles Chasteen

3.0

this is for my dissertation reading but i truly recommend it if you’d want an actual concise book. however there is no further reading and proper citing which is making my life rather difficult. This is mostly a school like book, suitable for baseline knowledge of history. It’s good to have in hand when suddenly forgetting what certain terms mean, come from, etc. it is after all 500 years of history in a small book. I read mostly theory which is incredibly dense, so having a more balanced academic text is very useful to keep my brain on track.
