World building was fabulous. The intrigue was on point. The FMC had a compelling backstory. And then Lyle shows up.
I can stan a villainous MMC, but why the fuck was Cricket swan diving into his arms after a few vague conversations? She believes he is using her and thinks he’s shady. So where is the foundation of their relationship? Honestly with tweaking she could have made them work together. Having the FMC not be the ultimate yes-woman would have gone a long long way.
