The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë
4.0
incredibly important, shockingly modern novel.
the structure is a little stilted but overall still a good read. helen huntingdon is a remarkable heroine and an inspiration, even more than a century down the line. this story serves to remind us that while women's rights have come a long way, there is still a constant thread of oppression and injustice that links us to the past, and it's going to take a lot more work to sever that tie completely.
