When I Was Yours by Samantha Towle
4.0
Excellent!
The sweetest story ever! I love second chance love stories, especially when the couple have been married before. This one just fit the bill. Adam is the son of a Hollywood actress and a studio owner. He was born with the sole purpose of inheriting the studio and run it, following the tradition of Gunner men. However, though he lived in riches he grew up lonely and unloved. Until one day he met Evie, fell in love and married one year later. One week after that she disappeared and only left signed annulment papers with a note that said I'm sorry. Ten years after the fact, Adam is at the head of the Gunner Studios but more lonely than ever. Evie has her father and sister but she was never the same after loosing Adam. She's now working at a coffee shop.
The book is structured in alternating POV and time chapters, narrating the story of Adam and Evie when they met as teenagers and the present time when they meet again after 10 years. It's a little frustrating because the author keeps us on the dark of why Evie left. However, at some time in the book you suspect what the reason was, and it made perfect sense.
At first, the alternating chapters of present and past time are a bit annoying, but they work because they are well identified as to time and character. I think the author did a great job, juggling different POV's with different times and having it all worked out great.
I loved Adam and Evie's love story, totally recommend this book.
