The Copenhagen Trilogy: Childhood; Youth; Dependency by Tove Ditlevsen

dark reflective tense slow-paced

5.0

A slow start. You spend 85% of the book understanding Tove from girlhood and life centered around family, with hints of need for romantic love until she is an audit quite separate from her family. She desperately pursues love and recognition, but continues to pursue her own work. She is honest and serious, and it made me love the darkest of her flaws. When tragedy strikes at the end of book, I was gripped with compassion and hope for her. A lovely, gently resolving finish.
