Victoria by Daisy Goodwin

4.0

I absolutely love historical fiction especially with strong women. Daisy Goodwin did a lot of research for this story and made a convoluted family line and history make sense!

So the story is about Victoria's first 2 years as Queen of England.

Victoria's father was supposed to be king but died young and was unable to. A few of his brothers took the throne after his death but none produced heirs. At 18 Victoria's uncle dies with no heirs making her Queen of England. She was raised by a German mother and was uneducated to the ways of the world and politics. She was a rebellious teen that now had to figure out how to be a resourceful leader. In love with someone she can't have and has to battle against men who think a woman can't do the job she shows everyone that she can do it! It also has a love story that is both juicy and forbidden but to keep her power she must marry nobility!

I loved how well Goodwin was about to write the ambiance and setting off the time, it felt like I was watching a TV show not reading a book. That's how well I could image everything.

Overall love this book.

Recommended to historical fiction lovers or those who love coming of age stories with a very young and strong character.
