Blood on the Tracks, Vol. 1 by Shuzo Oshimi

4.0

MY TAKE ON THE SYNPOSIS:
Volume one felt like an introduction, which I totally understand when your first setting the story. In this first volume we follow our main character Seiichi Osabe, a middle school student and an overall good kid and his relationship with his mother. Over the course of the volume, we begin to notice strange little things Seiichi's mother does until finally his cousin tells him that his mother is way too overprotective. After a HUGE climatic event, we see the that Seiichi's mother may be a little bonkers.

MY REVIEW:
I didn't read the synopsis going into the series, all I know is that it was classified as a Horror Manga and to be honest, I was way off because in my head, I literally thought this series was going to contain a zombie infestation (I don't even know where I got that idea from). At first I didn't really see anything wrong with Seiichi's mom because, well to be honest, I have 2 kids and I find myself being a bit overprotective myself but then the plot twist happens. Unfortunately, it happens at the END of the first volume and we're literally left on a cliff hanger! If I had known that going INTO IT I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL MORE VOLUMES!!! Overall though, this was a pretty strong start to a series.
