Night Sky with Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong

3.0

Beautiful use of language, but aside from the poems about immigration and exile, these didn't always come together and hit me as hard as, say, Richard Siken. There may be some inherent cultural bias on my part at play here (Siken's Americana speaks to me), but also, at the same time, like. Did Vuong need to include a semi-romantic poem about Jeffrey Dahmer? No.
