Beach Read by Emily Henry

4.0

I was planning on giving this a solid 3 star rating but then one of the finale chapter had me full on crying the whole way through reading it, which was like 10 minutes. Any book that gets me to actually cry gets an extra star, straight up.

This took me a while to read, still powering through a bit of a reading slump and actually being busy after lockdown... the beginning was promising, the middle dragged quite a bit, but the last 25% or so I read in one sitting and had all the emotions.

The two leads January and Gus were great, if a bit frustrating at times, but if you don't have the miscommunication trope in a romance book is it really a romance?

January's personal journey, outside of the romance, really hit me in the feels a lot more than i thought it would. I wad surprised that the romance wasn't a big a plot point as I thought it would be. Not a bad thing though in the end.

I'm excited to read Emily Henry's latest book now, I just hope that it also doesn't make me randomly ball my eyes out at 1am in the morning... a little warning next time please!
