Sharpe is always a lovely escape. This was a reread so I knew the ending but it still feels like such a big moment and makes me grin like a fool. Col McCandless is also one of my favourite Sharpe characters. Again I love the India details and will doubtless reread Sharpe’s Fortress soon.
