I read this entire book over a 6 hour train ride. As most people can attest to it has beautiful writing, felt like a big long poem of sorts.
While we only really had the main character (Ray, who is unnamed in the book) I didn't particularly find myself needing dialogue or too much interaction with other characters. The way it is written fleshes out his character, and his life, incredibly well.
Definitely not a happy dog book, do not read this if you want a happy dog book.
