Wow this is pretty different from the show. Let’s start with Elena. What a b*****. She was selfish, conceited, and kept saying how she was so in love with Stephen when they have only spoken a couple sentences to each. She treated her “friends” like peasants and she was absolute the worse to Matt not caring how he felt but still expected much from him. Let’s not forget the fact that she was almost raped and that same night she’s hanging all over Stephan like that traumatic event had no effect on her. She keeps getting described as “strong” and like a “white tiger” but she’s just a brat who is manipulative when she doesn’t get what she wants.
The story really went no where. The whole first book was just discovering that Stephan and Damon were vampires and that’s it. I saw tidbits of things that could have expanded on the world like bonnies heritage or other supernatural beings or what happened to elenas parents or the upcoming wedding for her aunt or something but we got nothing. I know this is supposed to be delved into more in future books but the lack of anything going on in this book really keeps you from wanting to read on.
This book just reminded me of a not so great fanfic.
