Bitter Sweet Love
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This was another fantastic edition to my Jennifer L. Armentrout obsession. We have more gargoyles and more demons, and we get to see our girl a bit younger. I have to say that after this installment I have no idea how to feel about anyone anymore. I was so angry about all the prejudice in the first book, but in this prequel novella everyone seems to have a softer opinion of Layla in this version. I feel like they pity her also, which isn't really all that good either.
The love was palpable with the lead characters, it is kinda bad but I cared more about Layla and Zayne and why we should be #TeamZayne. I have to say he wins me over just a little bit.
I love how we got to see how Jasmine and Dez got their HEA, I am still not sold on the sister and Zayne. They touch more on her infatuation and for me it isn't real enough. Layla/Zayne/Roth are very real, you can feel the sexual tension and love.
I am kinda dying for book two.
