Yes, there are spells and familiars and flying broomsticks. There are even Sapphic and trans’ witches - but there is so much more.
This is a story of the ages-old suppression and subjugation of women by men; of brutality and neglect and invisibility. It’s also about resistance and rage; suffrage and emancipation; self-acceptance and survival.
These women do everything they can to topple the patriarchy. They hide and pass on their power through the women’s work that men have trivialised and made invisible. These women are a triumph.
Most of all, this is a story about love between women and what they’ll do for anyone they consider family.
