Oh I love it when gay people in fiction are horrible human beings~

This is not a story about a cute friendship between a lesbian and a gay man nor is it really a murder mystery. It is, much rather, a story about life and relationships and queerness, including the real, ugly parts.

I think my favorite thing about this book is that instead of reading  like historical fiction it reads like a classic that was written during the time it is set. Except because it is actually contemporary it gets to be openly queer.

I bought this book on a trip to Berlin in a beautiful little bookstore (breaking my book buying ban for the special occasion). I had never heard of it before (even though I try to stay up to date with queer releases), so I chose to pick it up and I'm so glad I did, because I really enjoyed the experience and it's truly unique to other queer books on the market right now.
