Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

3.0

3.5 stars. I had a lot of fun with this, and while it was written pretty simply and some descriptions feel flat, I’m open to picking up the sequel. I’m interested in the siren aspect of the story, and Alosa’s mostly-female crew. Whatever Kearan’s up to with Sorinda is especially interesting. I didn’t care much for the main romance or even Riden (he’s boring and doesn’t have a backbone, pick a struggle) but hopefully that’s improved on later on.

I will say that I wish there were trigger warnings for threats of rape and SA, and even attempted rape at two separate points on the main character. Nothing is ever graphic, but the intention is there. This is YA. I fully believe that entire aspect of the story could’ve been taken out.
