michaelclorah 's review for:
Clementine, Book One
by Tillie Walden
I'm maybe not the target audience for this one - I read one book of Walking Dead (liked it, but not enough to commit indefinite time and money to it); I haven't seen the show; I didn't know there was a video game, much less that this book spins off from it, until I saw it mentioned in reviews of this book here.
I've heard good things about Walden's work (liked one previous book, didn't care for another), so I checked this out. I mean, not knowing Walking Dead shouldn't matter - surviving zombie bullshit is a pretty easy concept to grasp. Does not knowing the game matter? From comments here, it seems not.
I just found this book laboriously slow unfolding, with a sulking, tedious protagonist, and muddy, unclear zombie hatchet sequences. I hope you enjoy it more than I did.
