when I started, I was happy to learn that it was fantasy mixed in with a period piece aesthetic. however, I wasn’t super invested in any of the characters. I liked gemma’s character a lot at first. but somehow, i became uninvested in her storyline. her and talan fell in love way too quickly. there was no buildup or angst. the whole book I was hoping she would end up with ryder. and then about 70% in I just lost interest. I finished it obviously I had to see what happened. but too much was thrown at me at once and it seemed too scattered.
