Spare by Prince Harry

inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

🎧 I know Harry & Meghan and also this book are controversial topics but if it’s about the Royals and especially Harry then I’m going to be all over it. We all have our vices 😜. This is such a sad read about a man who is in the public eye and to the outside world has it all so therefore is fair game for constant ridicule by the public and media when in actual fact he’s a man who lost his mum very publicly at a very young age and only up to recently has he began to seek help to deal with his grief. From listening to this it comes across like he is constantly searching to find his place within this world and an institution that uses him for there own means and as there scapegoat. No matter your feelings on him you can’t take away what he has been through and how an institution failed him and uses the family members within it against each other. This was really well written and I really enjoyed it on audio. Harry narrating it himself really added to the experience. At over 15 hours long it is a long one but it really doesn’t feel it. It really gives you an insight into what this life is like from Harry’s perspective and also aspects of such a life that you may not realise and that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I don’t think it’s a life anyone would choose if they had all the facts. I do think this is a must read for anyone with an interest in The Royals, Harry & Meghan and all that has come since they met be it positive or negative.
