Unsticky by Sarra Manning

Sarra Manning's books may spoil me for other chick-lit. Of course you know what will happen in the end -- what fun is chick-lit if it doesn't have the happy ending? -- but she ensures that you become attached to the characters and their personalities, so that you actually care about the WHY rather than just the how.

In Unsticky, I loved Grace right from the start. Quirky, emotional, finding herself having failed yet again. Then we begin to see her debt problem. This is an issue tackled by Shopaholic, but it feels much more real in this story. And while most women don't find themselves so close to a "Pretty Women" situation, many of us can identify with hoping someone, often a man, will be able to rescue us -- and then wrestling with our conscious as to how to feel when he does.

Manning took a common issue and magnified it, while keeping both Grace and her love interest completely human. Great read.
