I never read these when I was a kid, but I enjoyed them as an adult. "The Long Winter" was my favorite. I loved the description of how they twisted the hay into logs to burn and how they had to dig their way out of their house because the snow had piled up so high outside. I love to read that in the winter when it's snowing and think how lucky I am to be in my warm, cozy house.
