Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl

4.0

When I was given this book as a child, I didn’t really know what to make of it. I think it just sat on my shelves for a long time and I didn’t look at it. I don’t know what it was that possessed me to pick it up but I remember sitting on the floor of my bedroom and laughing my head off while reading it.

I find that I struggle with getting the desire to read Dahl sometimes. I have to want to read his works or I end up just skim reading them. Not so much the case with this one. Perhaps because it’s a collection of poems rather than a book of prose, but I definitely found this one easier to digest.

The poems manage to remain close to the original fairytales, where there is one for it, whilst still being something you wouldn’t mind your children reading. And they’re fun which is nice.
