This story follows Wren Frits, a medical student doing a short stint in the emergency department, and Jack Kincaid, the attending physician. The two have known each other for years—Jack is her brother’s best friend. But five years ago, everything changed between them at a party. Now, in the present, they can’t stand each other. But do they really hate each other… or will the fiery tension between them lead to something more?
What a great audiobook and read! The enemies-to-lovers and hate-to-love dynamic between these characters was brilliant—not to mention the hate spice scenes we got. I was screaming during parts of this.
Wren is a feisty brat who pushed all of Jack’s buttons and didn’t hold back. She also had a more vulnerable side that she kept hidden due to past trauma, and I really liked how that storyline played out. Jack was head over heels for her but came off grumpy and kept pushing her away because of the circumstances of his position at the hospital and his best friend finding out.
I really enjoyed this one—it might be my favorite book by J. Saman so far! I don’t want to say too much though so just read it.
