Blacksad by Juan Díaz Canales

I did really like this book- the art was gorgeous, details seemed to accurately portray the time period, and it had a distinct noir/Sherlock Holmes-esque flavor to it.

However, it is not a book that's appropriate for younger audiences. It's a graphic novel, and graphic novels, are, well, graphic. Especially those dealing with large amounts of violence and less large but still prevalent amounts of sex. (Granted, you can pretty much just skip over that, since those scenes only occupy about one page each, but it's awfully hard to avoid the violence since it is an integral aspect of the story.) In addition to that, there are some scenes that may be disturbing to some (TW for suicide).

But other than that, I highly enjoyed this book.
