Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe
informative
tense
medium-paced
4.5
The amount of research that had to go into “Say Nothing”…to locate and access sources, to interview IRA members and people directly involved with and affected by The Troubles, to compile it into an addictive text…*chef’s kiss*
I was enthralled by the detail Keefe weaved into a comprehensive recounting of several major events during The Troubles. Hearing multiple firsthand accounts was incredible. Hearing of events that occurred following the Good Friday Agreement was novel - I always thought things settled after April ‘98.
The book occasionally got chaotic and difficult to follow, but overall excellent.
Also, eff Gerry Adams.
Definitely recommend!
