The Song Rising
by Samantha Shannon
In typical Samantha Shannon style, I was mildly bored thoughout the first half of the story and then wildly invested for the last half. I definitely liked this one more than the previous one, maybe because it wasn't unnecessarily long.
I really like the worldbuilding in this series. It's so detailed and well thought out, and I love reading about all the imaginary political figures, historical events and real-life parallels.
The plot of this one was also very intriguing, especially towards the end. The whole bit where she I was so sad to find out that because he's one of my favourite characters.
I'm so excited to read the next book, but I've also heard it ends on a terrible cliffhanger and that the next book in the series comes out next year, so I don't know if I want to start it now.
