this was a nice, atmospheric October read. I really enjoyed the big cast of characters and the dark, magical themes. I did find the ending a bit anticlimactic, especially as the majority of the book was dedicated to such a slow-burning plot. the writing style was sometimes beautiful but at other times felt deliberately obtuse.
