Destiny: Child of the Sky by Elizabeth Haydon

Did not finish book. Stopped at 22%.
As much as I enjoyed the first two books and the fondness I've developed for one particular character (the assassin), finishing this book for the time being has proved downright impossible.

I know the romance of the book isn't everything but I despise it. This whole "and they were soul mates all along by the way!" shtick feels so lazy and thoughtless in the face of Rhapsody and Achmed's journey, for example, of actually becoming trusted allies and friends. It wasn't absolutely necessary for me that they end up together but we spent 2 books watching them have each other's back and then... surprise! Rhapsody is actually Emily from the first book's prologue, and she and Gwydion are long lost soul mates, fated to be love interests! I hate it. I think anything else should have happened. The love confessions and their "chemistry" mean absolutely nothing to me. And I am petty enough to stop reading because I am being forced to read a chapter in the stupid love interest's POV.
