Listen, I gave this 4 stars but I'm not sure it deserves it and ill tell you why. I have read only 2 other books by this C.N. Crawford, City of Thrones and Lord of Embers (Demon Queen Trials). The Demon Queen Trials is not that great. I will say this book is way better than those 2 BUT they use some of the same things from those books. Some very specific things that you definitely pick up on. So if a chunk of things are pretty much in another of their books that has nothing to do with this book, does it deserve 4 stars? I definitely recommend reading this book over Demon Queen Trials.
Here's some spoilery evidence (spoils from all 3 books)
1. Both books have an FMC that belong to the paranormal people (fairies or demons) and they grow up in the human world among humans.
2. Both FMC have human best friends that are kinda obsessed with the paranormal people.
3. Both use a highway/road and going super fast to go to a different world/realm (which I find weirdly specific and wouldn't have used it in 2 different series)
4. Both have a deadly trial where they FMC needs to use like weapons to imitate powers so survive the trial.
