TOURIST SEASON was a really fun, albeit crazy and gory, ride. From an author who makes serial killers fall in love, I shouldn’t have been surprised. But this one still had the hint of Butcher and Blackbird and what made that book special, while also creating its own story with its own in depth characters.
I can honestly can this book is unique, and in a good way. It took twists and turns I wasn’t expecting, while also keeping the balance between romance, action, and character depth at the perfect levels. It’s the start of a series, or at least a duology, unlike the other author’s novels, which are interconnected rather than fleshing out the story in multiple books. It felt refreshing to read this book and kept me invested in the story.
The best part about it is it keeps the authors trademark humor. It’s dark. But the banter is great and the inner narration of the characters also made me laugh.
Overall, this was a funny, well written, engaging book. It’s got a lot going for it. If you enjoy this author’s stories, this is right up your alley. But check your triggers!
Thank you to Zando and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
