My mother always says when you fight destiny, destiny fights back. Some things, they’re just written in the stars. You can try but you can never escape what’s meant to be.
This book brings me to Pakistan where an arrange marriage is considered a tradition and almost all girls went through it. Naila is a Pakistani who grew up in America. Her conservative parents has this one rule-no boyfriend or guy friends. But when they found out she has a boyfriend, they went berserk and Naila ended up being forced into an arrange marriage.
TW: marital rape, drug, violence, domestic abuse
The fact that every single event in this book is really happening out there made me feels sick to my stomach. It is indeed an eye-opening book but also horrific. I'm glad I stumbled upon this book, definitely a new experience for me.
