Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan
5.0

LGBT History Month (5/12): This book was a number of short stories relating to one another, the underlying theme of lgbt+ people trying to find their place in the world, narrated by gay men who have died of AIDS in the past. The central story is about two boys - ex boyfriends - trying to break the guinness world record for longest kiss, which they do, but so much happens in just those hours. The story talks about how so much has changed, but how it can still be hard to be openly gay. There's a moment where you learn one of their parents not only has no idea about the kissing record, but doesn't know that their son is gay and finds out during the record-making. What unfolds is real, flawed, human, and loving. Overall a really beautiful book.
