This was such a fascinating read that introduced me to many interesting poets and the challenges of translating poetry from Mandarin to English. I always love a translator’s note in a book and so this collection ticked all the boxes for me. There are five poets represented and after the poems of each Yilin Wang writes about the themes of the poems, the choices they made when translating and the context of the poems. It’s such a rich and beautifully assembled book. Highly recommend.
