Heartbreak Warfare by Kate Stewart, Heather M. Orgeron

Heartbreaking and Beautiful…

“I am two different women, living in two separate worlds, in love with two different soldiers.”

This book was just amazing!! I went into it completely blind and what an eye opener it was. We don’t hear a lot about POW’s and it was refreshing and devastating to see their side.

I’ll be honest, I was torn on who I wanted Katy to end up with. I would have been happy with either man as they are both wonderful! I found myself cheering for Briggs at the beginning due to his charm, humor and funny personality. Then after everything that happened I was cheering for Gavin. His devotion, love and understanding was so heartbreaking to witness and I felt I suffered right along with him. Then toward the end when Katy had to decide I just couldn’t choose anymore. It came down to her being happy and that’s all that mattered.

I think readers will find this story not only beautiful but also shocking as we get that behind the scene look at what soldiers deal with everyday after experiencing the things they do in war. I felt the story was very well written, well portrayed in the veteran aspect and just all around a super emotional read. The angst is real and when authors have you rooting for both men you known they’ve portrayed them perfectly. My heart broke for both at different times.

Definitely a 5 star read!
