To be truthful, I did not expect to like this as much as I did. My husband read it and then recommended it. Dystopian novels are a dime a dozen and while I tend to like them, there are plenty of REALLY bad ones. This one is quite violent and nudity is a common part of the community, so it wouldn't make a movie that I would see probably, but the nudity wasn't graphic, so it worked okay in a book. Overall, the setting on Mars was interesting with the world at large being the solar system. I liked the Roman references. I liked the main character. My favorite scene was when he voluntarily got whipped. (I think that's not saying too much.) I liked how it defined his character so clearly from what he despised.
