The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

5.0

I read this whole book in three hours. There was so much that I loved about it. I never thought I would see the day when I rated a romance contemporary book 5 stars but that’s what is about to happen.

Let’s break it down. I think having an underdog protagonist was a great move here, introducing this ying/yang aspect of the twins really put her feelings of being the other in perspective. The characterization of Olive seemed a little stereotypical until you realize that she’s hispanic. Which is how diversity is supposed to work. It gets slipped in there but the story isn’t just about her ethnicity.

The writing and the arguments and the name switching were masterful. There is something so good about the love/hate trope that was really done very successfully here. It was witty and interesting and even though I knew what was going to happen, it didn’t stop me from squealing in delight every time Olive and Ethan had an interaction.

It was hard to get on board with the ending, yes, I wanted it to happen but at what cost?

All in All, I would still give this 5 stars because I loved it!
