The Heights
by Louise Candlish
I was super excited when Louise Candlish’s newest book arrived in my mailbox. Louise’s book Our House was one of my favorite thrillers of 2019 so I was anxious to see if The Heights was just as good.
I've decided to keep this one brief because truly the less you know going into this one the better!
Ellen Saint is meeting a client when she catches a glimpse of Kieran Watts. Even though he's a bit thinner with bleached hair, Ellen is almost positive that it's him. But this can't be possible. Kieran can't be alive because Ellen killed him two years ago.
Get ready for edge of your seat, nail-biting action! The Heights starts as a slow burn mystery where we are introduced to Ellen, her family, and Kieran. But don't let that deceive you because The Heights is full of heart-stopping action and twists galore.
The story is told through multiple points of view and is divided into four parts with each part more heart-pounding than the next.
Louise Candlish is a very skilled thriller writer who never disappoints. I can always count on her books to be very entertaining. Her characters are everyday people who are stuck in the middle of the absolute worst situations. Not all of her characters are likable, sometimes even the main characters are detestable but she pulls you in with such excellent storytelling that you are just dying to know what happens next. Few authors can pull off what Louise Candlish did with the ending of The Heights and without giving anything away, I will say that the ending on this one is very satisfying.
I highly recommend The Heights to all fans of thrillers centered around a mystery. Fans of Lisa Jewell and any of Louis Candlish’s prior work will definitely love The Heights as well!
The Heights will be available on March 1. Many thanks to Atria Books for the gifted copy!
