Here’s what bothered me about this book. First, there should have been a content warning. Cancer is such a triggering topic for so many people, especially since reading is a method of escapism for many. So I was shocked that there was several pages dedicated to mentioning a traumatic cancer journey and the way it ended? As someone (like most of us) who has lost someone to cancer it made me MAD. It’s just such a disrespectful way to have someone pass away and I felt like the way it was handled was so upsetting.
I also did not like the layer of misogyny in the the mmc. The entire way he handled his previous relationship. Gross. You could have fooled me that this was trying to be a dark romance after the mmc stalked the fmc, tampered with her mail, and gaslit her for months.
The “big reveal” heavily leaned on gaslighting the reader and that is… just such lazy storytelling for a ROMCOM. Like this book was supposed to be funny!
