Soft Like Thunder by Julia Wolf

5.0

Went into this one completely blind. Have never read this author before, nor had I read anything about this when I won the arc in another author's group page. What a treat! I absolutely LOVED this. Helen is very tough and rough around the edges. She has had to be growing up the way she has. Everything changes on her one day, and a year later she finds herself in a place she never thought to be - at university as a full time student. Theo appears on the surface to be a rich jock that hangs with the frat boy crowd, but Helen has a pull to him that is surprising, and with classes together and situations that throw them together, she finds herself giving him some of her time.

I really loved this book. Helen is a strong heroine, who can stick up for herself and do what has to be done and rarely takes anything from anyone. Yet, she also has a softer side and a vulnerability that she rarely shows through. I started this not knowing what to expect and then couldn't put it down until I finished. I can't wait to go back now and read all of Julia Wolf's backlist and I especially can't wait to read the next book in this series - about Amir and Zadie, Helen's roommate. I'm sort of hoping maybe there will be another book, or two, featuring Elena and Lock. It not together, then at least one for each of them!
