Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster

4.0

This one holds up to rereading. Judy (Jerusha) is a delightful protagonist, with her curiosity and stubbornness, and it's fascinating to see the world through her eyes. The ending has always seemed pretty obvious to me, so it's maybe a little frustrating that she doesn't realize who Daddy-Long-Legs is until the reveal (though
she admits herself that there were plenty of clues she missed along the way
), but the journey > the destination.

I've wanted to read this because of Dear Pen Pal. It's a lovely story, but it's super obvious who Daddy-Long-Legs is. For all the hype, though, Julia Pendleton actually doesn't seem as bad as Savannah Sinclair (in Dear Pen Pal) did; Judy's a fascinating character too.
