I was really excited to read this book, witches and time travel, sounded so cool. At first, it took me a while to get into it. I wasn’t a fan of our main character Desi. She’s so immature and I found her friends annoying as well. If it wasn’t for Kismet they all would have died for how careless they are.
Desi travels to Cuba 100 years in the past, I love that the women in the story are leaders and fight along with the men considering the time period. We watch Desi grow as a person; she’s still scared, 17 and fighting demons, I think she has the right to be scared, but she’s no longer selfish. I’m glad that she cares about Alba, Elena, Ramon and all the others to want to fight with them.
I was a little upset with the ending but after reading the sneak peek to book two I was fine with it.
Overall I think the book is great for young and older teens.
