A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
Final Rating: ♾⭐️!!!
*not going to go into depth on the plot here bc I don’t want to give spoilers* *also disclaimer: i have only read the first two books so character opinions may change later on*
↬Thoughts:
↬omFG where do I even start?? I totally get what everyone was saying - ACOMAF is THAT GIRL. The whole speed of the series changes here and really starts to take off! My perceptions of the characters COMPLETELY changed in this book and I am fully obsessed with Rhys and am hereby enforcing a zero tolerance rule for slander against him. The love story builds beautifully throughout this novel and is prob tied for my favorite of all time! There is so much about this book that I love - it truly makes you feel everything deep down to your core, feel nostalgic for a place you’ve never been, and fall in love with the story and the characters (at least most of them - hate is more accurate for the others). I also really enjoyed how we got such an elaborate expansion to the original world built in ACOTAR - the universe really expands in this one and I loved the level of detail added to the Night Court!
↬Characters:
↬Feyre: Feyre darling, I am so so proud of you. I was so worried about her in the beginning, but her character arc through the novel is absolutely amazing. She transforms from this shell of a being into one of the most powerful fmc’s. She finds herself (with a little help and encouragement hehe) and really starts to move toward her full potential in this novel. I am so excited to see her continue to grow in the next books!!
↬Rhysand: I literally have no words except that I am utterly obsessed. He really moved the bar higher for men everywhere. The way he treats feyre - so gentle, yet so protective and fierce. He is selfless and will do anything for the people he loves and I love him for it.
↬Mor & Azriel: Really hoping for more context around these two later in the series! There is so much potential here. Love the grumpy x sunshine vibes.
↬Amren: I love the mystery around her character! Excited to see her story unfold!
↬Cassian: I love the energy Cassian brings to the group!! The banter between all of them is so heartwarming and I love that he would die to protect any of them. So excited to see his love story play out too hehe
↬Tamlin: I actually hate him. My opinion of him completely shifted from the first book to the second, but I honestly kind of expected this. I also expected the twist involving him at the end. However, as much as I hate what he did, at least he stayed true to his character. He always let his fear of losing Feyre and his toxic masculinity dictate his actions and this was at least consistent till the end.
↬Lucien: I actually am so disappointed in him. I mean, on one hand I can’t fault him for his loyalty, but on the other hand - he knows dang well what is right and what is wrong. He doesn’t have the guts to do anything about it and I lost some respect for him in this one tbh.
↬Overall I really loved this one with my whole heart & wanted to reread it immediately after finishing it. I will forever be chasing the feeling this book gave me
