The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
4.0
Reread 2024 -----
I still have the same opinion, reading this is delightful even only for the aesthetics and the vibes and the writing. The Circus itself makes it worth the read, and somehow I can still see myself reread it in the future just for that unique experience of the setting. Following the rêveurs, Bailey and the twins is leagues more interesting than the actual plot of the romance and the challenge. The romance really drags it down though, it's so annoying and I can't bring myself to care and rolled my eyes many times when I knew Celia and Marco were about to interact. A pity.
When I pick this book up I am transported, few setting have felt as vivid as the Night Circus. Erin Morgenstern is a vibe and aesthetic writer who paints pictures with her words and I love her for it.
Original thoughts 2022 -----
Took me a while to get into, but now that I have finished it, I can say I absolutely loved it. Turning the pages in the second half was so easy.
I can see why it's polarizing, because it is 95% vibes and aesthetics, and 5% plot, and I absolutely loved that so so much.
The writing was delightful, I love magical books set in the Victorian era, and I love mystical, slightly spooky stuff.
I recomend if you are character driven and if you like the above.
