Lore by Alexandra Bracken
4.0

Lore is not for the faint of heart.

Last of her bloodline that can be traced back to Perseus, slayer of Medusa in ancient mythology, we watch our protagonist face two foiling battles: a physical one with the Agon and an internal one with herself and her past.

Although the idea for this book is extremely original and follows an excellent, intellectual plot, the characters are very stagnant and not extremely compelling. Certain aspects of Lore's character growth seem forced—and by that I mean all stemming from coping with her past but only when it is deemed necessary to forward the plot rather than in other organic instances—and without a deep connection to the main character, the supporting cast felt far away from my grasp.
