Hell Is Empty by Craig Johnson
2.0

I am not quite are why I didn't enjoy this book. Perhaps it is because this is the first Craig Johnson book I have read and Hell is Empty isn't a good place to start with the Walt Longmire series.

This book is rated so highly I wonder what I missed. I found the story to be very slow and repetitive. The story started out fine but as it kept going I disliked Walt more and more. How many times can you lose your hat (possibly an inside joke that I would have gotten with reading more of his stories), lose your friend only to keep finding him again at exactly the right moment, almost dying several times. Lather rinse repeat.

Maybe with more knowledge of Dante's Inferno I would have noticed the parallels.

I guess it comes down to not every book is for everybody. This book wasn't for me. It could be the right one for you. I don't think a book gets 4.20 stars by accident. I would say maybe stay away from this one until you have read a few of his other books.
