in which stevie bell solves a murder with power of anxiety and the tism

overall a very typical YA mystery book that i enjoyed! i really liked the main character Stevie, Nate, and the rest of the characters we met (still on the fence about David tho, it’s giving guy who thinks he’s cool and mysterious but is just a dick), the boarding school feel, and the mystery is really cool. the mystery of the whole book is central around the Ellingham Kidnappings, and it seems like it’s going to be quite fleshed out which i’m excited for. the book is written with two intersecting stories: the main one which follows stevie and the smaller plot thread that follows FBI interviews and other accounts from the Kidnappings themselves from the 1930s which i thought was interesting and added to our knowledge of the case without too much infodumping.

but overall stevie carried, she’s a very compelling lead and i love listening to her thoughts, processes, and interactions with others.

other than that this is the first audiobook i’ve ever actually listened to and i really enjoyed! i plan to listen to the rest of the series and my enjoyment of the book was very much partial to the listening experience i had.
