The author warns in the beginning that the ending isn't happy for the main characters, which I appreciated, because if I had gone in blind I would have been pretty upset by how things turned out. The first third of the book made me think the story was more of a basic slasher, but the plot layers developed nicely, while staying true to the theming originally introduced. I thought it was very well done. It was very fast paced and action-packed, and completely different from what I usually read. It was a good shake up.
Graphic: Death, Gore, Death of parent
Moderate: Child death
