When the Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy
4.25
challenging dark emotional mysterious sad tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

The author warns in the beginning that
the ending isn't happy for the main characters,
which I appreciated, because if I had gone in blind I would have been pretty upset by how things turned out. The first third of the book made me think the story was more of a basic slasher, but the plot layers developed nicely, while staying true to the theming originally introduced. I thought it was very well done. It was very fast paced and action-packed, and completely different from what I usually read. It was a good shake up.
